ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY
The Beautification Committee participates in the State of Illinois Adopt-A-Highway program. The Beautification Committee began cleaning up trash along Ogden Avenue in 2009. Committee members recently renewed their commitment to clean up this area four (4) times per year for another two (2) years. IDOT has placed Adopt-A-Highway signs on Ogden Avenue at Custer and Eberly.

ADOPT-A-SPOT
The Brookfield Adopt-A-Spot program provides individuals, families, organizations and businesses with the opportunity to volunteer to adopt a designated area of the Village for a one-year period.  Volunteers help pick up litter and pull weeds from flowerbeds in parks, landscaped traffic islands, historical markers and other public spaces. See list of spots, application and waivers below.

Adopt-A-Spot Service Opportunities: Are you part of a group that is looking for service opportunities but can only commit one or two days per year? Does your company require service hours from you each year? Give us a call and we will help you organize a day of service at one or more of our sites.

Project N.I.C.E. (Neighbors Involved in a Clean Environment)

Project N.I.C.E. is a village-wide volunteer spruce-up and project day held each spring and fall in Brookfield. Residents donate one morning of their time to give our parks, schools, train stations and outdoor public areas a good outdoor cleaning. Leaves need to be raked, ttrees mulched, small branches picked up, walkways swept and litter collected. Special projects are also planned for each event.

WHAT IS IT?

Project N.I.C.E. (Neighbors Involved in a Clean Environment) is an important day of service held each spring and fall where Brookfield residents gather together to volunteer to clean up the community. Sponsored by the Brookfield Beautification Commission, Project N.I.C.E. and the resident volunteers who make it happen have been making a positive impact on the Village for almost 20 years.

Work sites will be assigned at the time of registration. Light refreshments will be provided to volunteers in Village Hall before heading out. Maps, bags, some gloves and tools are also provided. We encourage volunteers to also bring their own tools such as rakes, shovels for mulching and hand tools for weeding if at all possible. Please label your tools if you bring them.
